President Quinn’s Weekly Message

California Santa Rosa Mission

July 7th, 2025

Sister Quinn and I look forward to this week of zone conferences. One of the most fulfilling experiences of our mission is to move across CASRM meeting with you. We are inspired by your goodness and devotion. We are excited to share instruction we have prepared for these conferences. We look forward to considering these topics together.

I have recently reflected on the account of the Savior’s visit to the people on the American continent. This account describes some of the most inspiring and tender events in scripture. In the first verses of 3 Nephi 11, the people are together in the city of Bountiful when they hear a voice. Two times the voice speaks to them. They do not understand the voice; nor do they look for the source of the voice in the right place. The third time the voice speaks to them they:

“… did open their ears to hear it; and their eyes were towards the sound thereof; and they did look steadfastly towards heaven, from whence the sound came.” (3 Nephi 11:5)

Once the people look heavenward towards the source of the voice, they were able to hear and understand the message:

“Behold my Beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased, in whom I have glorified my name—hear ye him.” (3 Nephi 11:7)

This scriptural account teaches us an important lesson about receiving divine direction. Our Father in Heaven is the ultimate source for the most important truths in life. In the scriptural account shared above, He testifies to the most important truth in life – the divinity of His son, our Savior Jesus Christ. He, our Father in Heaven, was uniquely qualified to offer this witness of the Savior. The Savior is our advocate and mediator to our Father in Heaven. We should look to Them through prayer – and listen for divine instruction from the whisperings of the Holy Ghost. President Nelson has taught us this truth:

“Seek guidance from voices you can trust—from prophets, seers, and revelators and from the whisperings of the Holy Ghost, who “will show unto you all things what ye should do.” Please do the spiritual work to increase your capacity to receive personal revelation.” (Think Celestial, GC Oct 2023)

I invite you to look heavenward for answers to your questions and concerns. The sources listed above by President Nelson will unfailingly provide you truth. In teaching us about prayer, Sister Quinn has taught “specific questions receive specific answers.”

I testify that the Lord hears and answers our prayers. I testify that He desires to be involved in the details of our life. Your Father in Heaven loves you perfectly. If you have a question or concern, no matter how small it may appear, if it is important to you – it is important to your Father in Heaven. Please remember to look heavenward for divine direction in the ambitions, concerns, and desires of your life. Look heavenward as you work to fulfill your sacred and heavy assignment as a missionary. Look heavenward for truth in this world growing in chaos, contention, and untruths. I promise that your sincere prayers will be answered.

Sister Quinn and I look forward to seeing you soon in zone conference.

Love,

President Quinn
